Our recent travels in Peru this spring inspired us to make our quarterly micro-credit loan to a woman in that region.
We chose Centula, from the Chiclayo province in Peru. Funding a portion of her loan with help Centula to purchase animals for her family farm, including sheep! You know how crazy we are about sheep!
We are proud members of the organization 1% For Women, an organization dedicated to changing the lives of women in agriculture from around the world by funding micro-credit loans through Kiva.org. We are grateful for the inspiration that comes from being part of something bigger by taking a portion of our proceeds to make a global difference. It is eye opening to see how much of a difference can be made in the life of a person with such a seemingly small loan. As the loans are paid back we reinvest the money into addition loans. So far we have lent a total of $325 to 7 different women in 6 different countries including; Peru, Mexico, Palestine, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Kenya.
